What to expect during recovery

Rhinoplasty recovery happens in visible stages that are worth knowing about in advance:

1. A splint is typically worn for about one week to protect and support the new shape
2. Bruising and swelling around the eyes are common in the first one to two weeks, then gradually fade
3. Most visible swelling resolves within a month, allowing a reasonable sense of the result
4. Subtle swelling can continue to resolve for up to a year, meaning the truly final result takes longer to fully emerge than most patients expect
